The name is a blend of horticulture and the Dutch word wijk, meaning settlement or village. It’s a nod to my parents’ hometown of Harderwijk in the Netherlands, and to my lifelong passion for all things green and growing.

I’m Ryan Denee, a horticulturist and environmental advocate with hands-on experience in plant production, nursery and grounds management, landscape design and installation, and sustainable plant health care. I am passionately committed to gardening methods that increase biodiversity. Through Hortiwijk, I share my work, observations, and ideas for creating thriving, eco-friendly garden spaces that celebrate both nature and community.
